Meet the Artist

Barbara Rowe Betjemann is a plein air artist working in oils, watercolor, and pen and ink. Over her career, she has also illustrated four published technical manuals.

Early Years

Barbara grew up in Connecticut and Rhode Island, studying at Northfield School and the Rhode Island School of Design. After her education, she and her family moved to Northern New Hampshire where they managed a small farm. It was there she began painting seriously, attending the Phoebe Flory Watercolor School and numerous workshops with watercolorist Zoltan Szabo.

Life on the Seacoast

Twenty years ago, Barbara and her family relocated to seacoast New Hampshire to be closer to family. She has been painting, teaching, and illustrating in the region ever since, grateful to have spent most of her life in New Hampshire.
